Facts about Uganda

 

The Republic of Uganda is located on the equator in East Africa and includes a large portion of Lake Victoria, the largest freshwater lake south of the equator.

 

Uganda is one of the poorest nations in the world, with 37.7% of the population living on less than $1.25 a day.

 

Uganda's population is currently estimated to be 35 million and the median age is 14.9 years, the lowest of any nation in the world. 

 

There are over 2 million orphans living in Uganda.  One in 5 children are orphans due mostly to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, but also due to past civil wars.
